Question about Fender warranty?

Well I finally had my Strat looked at by a tech to see what was wrong with the truss rod. I got it back this afternoon to find out that there was nothing they could do. So, long story short, the neck is warped (bowed) so it will not straighten out, no matter how far I tighten down the nut. They said if it has warranty left i should use it. I bought the guitar from musiciansfriend about 5 months ago so im assuming it is still covered, but they said it might not be since it was made back in the end of 05.

1) Are they full of crap, or does the warranty start from build date?

2) I changed the pickups and added a clean boost to it, will that void my warranty for the neck?

The wonder of living on this side of the great stae of SD is that we are about 5 hours interstate from an authorized fender service center. I really dont want to waste my time and money sending this to fender for them to tell me that it isnt covered, so any help would be wonderful.

Thanks,
Brad

Re: Question about Fender warranty?

i would hope the Warranty covers you from the date sold to you... it should... it's a new guitar until you take it home... write and phone Fender and Musicians Friend and let them know you have a bad neck... maybe give them the name and info on the tech you took it too... Hope you have all your bills.. I still have my bills for axes i bought in the mid 80's...

If it was bought from a store that is a Fender Dealer i'm sure they send a replacement neck to the store and they change the neck on the guitar.... But in the case of internet buying like MF i have no idea how it will work... maybe they will send you to a Guitar Center if there is one nearby... Or maybe Musicians Friend will take the axe back and ship a new one..

I don't think modding the Electronics will hurt your warranty on the neck.. it should not

Fender will stand behind their axes.. If they didn't they would be out of business

Re: Question about Fender warranty?

How did the neck get like that? Did you have some 13s on there or anything?

If not, then you should be fine.
