quick question on twangbanger and pg

Is this a correct analogy: Pearly Gates is to bridge of Les Paul, as Twangbanger is to bridge of Strat?

Or, more regularly put, if you loved your Pearly Gates in your Les Paul, and you got a Stratocaster (SSS) and wanted the same type sound that your PG gives you, would you get a Twangbanger?

Re: quick question on twangbanger and pg

they're analogous, but different ...

they both have Alnico II mags, but the PG is wound to vintage PAF specs, whereas the Twangbanger is wound hotter than a vintage strat pickup - 8.2K as opposed to "vintage" at around 6-6.5K

Re: quick question on twangbanger and pg

Definately not. The PG is a vintage type humbucker and the Twangbanger was designed to make a Strat sound like a Tele in the bridge position.

They sound nothing alike regardless of the guitar used.

Re: quick question on twangbanger and pg

How would you get a PG type sound in your Strat, if you had it set to SSS config?

Re: quick question on twangbanger and pg

Maybe the custom shop could do something for you; the BG1400 tele bridge pickup does the PG thing really, really well. I think the BG is a variation of the hot stack, so if they make hot stacks for strats perhaps MJ could throw in the same magic dust for a tele brige. But I'm just guessing.
