Have anyone tried the Radial Tonebone overdrive/ distortion?
Classic or Hot british? I've read only good things about them, but would like to hear from users instead of magazine reviews.
Anyone?

Re: Radial Tonebone

I've got the Hot British.

It's a beast, I'll tell you that. You can *barely* accomplish JCM 800 style tones at it's absolute lowest settings, but from my experience, it's more adept at simulating absolutely CRANKED JCM 800 tones, with mid-scoops, the whole bit. Endless sustain.

You can achieve just about any tone "shape" with that pedal, including that of a vintage Marshall, but it won't sound like the real deal. You basically have to set everything to "zero", and bump the midrange, etc.

It's a fun pedal, and worth the money, but not a replacement (nor is ANY pedal) for the actual amp.

I do wonder if the Classic would've been a better purchase for myself (looking for cranked Plexi tones), but I still consider the Hot British an absolute gem. I've got NOTHING bad to say about it. Absolutely studly construction, I'll tell you that.

Re: Radial Tonebone

I had a Hot british that I got off ebay but man mine was fricken cursed... 2 switches and one of the pots on it failed and I couldn;t get rid of this strange hiss sound out of it even at low volume/gain levels.

I think I got a bum one cuz I've never heard bad things about these, but everything was wrong with this one!
