Randall Diavlo Rd100

Just got one of these last week. It's a great, solid high gain amp. I get some really great clean tones despite the shared EQ. The onboard distortion is tight, focused and punchy. I love the articulation that I get out of it. I play in an extreme metal band and we do a lot of staccato style riffing and it is a nice change from my JSX. Another great thing about this amp is the effects loop. I feel that the loop is flawless. The levels are balanced perfectly and I am really stoked about it. Now with that said, I really don't like the distortion without the boost engaged. It sounds kind of muddy to me. That sort of changes my mind about this amp. I feel like it loses some versatility in that aspect. I got it from AMS @ $799. I am currently on the fence about keeping it.

Lunch is over, I'll come back and complete the post. I have ordered something else to try out and want some opinions. Back in a few hours

So yesterday I ordered a Marshall DSL100 scratch and dent @ $675. I've heard plenty of the older models before but not this one. I'm aware of its origin and quality of build as far as materials go but I have no real experience with it. I know there's plenty of versatility in the old ones so I'm hoping I will find a similar spectrum in these new models. I'm not opposed to having a metal only amp but I like a little variety.

So how about it? Anyone have any experience with either model? Both maybe? What say you?

A guy walks into the doctor's office, bends his finger back, and says "it hurts when I do this."

The doctor nods his head and says, "don't bend your finger back like that."

Right! It is a nice amp and I do like the boost, eh maybe I'm overthinking it.

I have/had the RD45. Best high gain amp in the price range IMHO. The crunch is so satisfying. Liked RD45 better than the DSL series.
