Really quiet

Hey gang,

I'm moving to a new place with upstairs neighbors. I have a LOUD amp right now, and it really doesn't like room level volumes at all. I like my new neighbors and don't want to annoy them. I like to jam along with music. Right now, I have my Fender Twin set to low power and I turn up my home stereo. It's pretty darn loud. I would like to continue jamming with tunes, but at a much lower volume. I was thinking about a POD, but since there is no audio mix in option, if I used it, I could either listen to my pod or my stereo, but not both at the same time. I could get a really small amp (it seems most sound bad to me). I could get some sort of extreme attenuator for my amp. Are there any other options? I wish that the damn pods would allow for a mix in jack!

What do you think I should do so that I can jam at a quiet room level when the upstairs folks are around? I am open to any suggestions!

what about a pignose or one of those marshalls that clips onto ur belt?

You could find a used GNX-2 on the net and use the jam-along plug. Mixes with music quite well IMHO and you get lots of nice settings to play with and mix. Prices aren't too bad right now because everyone's getting a GNX-3K and forgetting the venerable GNX-2. It works nicely if you ask me. There are also the training play along CD players that will let you plug into them etc. It aint tube, but it aint bad.

I have a Kramer K-15R. It's collecting dust, but it's still in excellent condition. It has external loop, High Input, Low Input. Great tonal range, contained pretty well, not all over the place. If your interested let me know.

Could you use some sort of recording program like n-track (or some other way of using the computer, maybe just via the soundcard control) and have the POD going into the line in and a CD or audio file playing at the same time? You could control the volume via the soundcard's mixer. You could just use the headphone out of the computer and you'd be all set. I think.
