Rear panel questions on the Classic 50

I recently looked at the rear panel of the Peavey Classic 50 2x12 and have some questions.

Does it make any difference to the tone or dynamics of the amp if I use the 8 ohm speaker input instead of the 16 ohm input? How do i know which input to select?

Also one other thing can i use a seperate 50watt head and plug it into the combo speakers of the classic 50 instead of using an extension cab?

I matters due to the impedience load of the speakers. the 50 uses two 8 ohm speakers in series giving a total load of 16 ohms. If you use the 8 ohm connection you will not get full power to the speakers. if you were to use speakersd that gave you a total of 8 ohms and use the 16 ohm conection, you will blow up the amp.

Also you can use the 50 as an extension cab as long as you match the impedience.
