Reccommend a good power amp for bass

My bassist is finally getting some new gear after his all got stolen, he's buying an ampeg 6x10 at a great deal from a guy in town, and is using the bass pod as a preamp, so what would make a good power amp? it needs to be pretty loud, since we have JCM800, 5150 and DSL100 half stacks to go up with.
price isn't too much of an issue, since he has some extra cash from getting such a deal on the cab.

My GK 800RB pretty much destroys everything in its path.

Good tone out of it too....

Crest, Crown, Makie, and Peavey power amps have always been good to me, for both PA and instrument applications.

I keep noticing this. Guitars tend to have 12 inchers, and the occasional 15".

I keep seeing bass players with 10's. Isn't something backwards here? :laugh2:

well the speakers are voiced for bass in bass cabinets, and even though they don't move as much air, they have a greater response and good full-range capabilities
alot of bassists will use larger speakers if they really need to push air though.
he's using one of my 18's right now, but it's not really voiced so well for bass. maybe for large shows we can combine them.

and I'm really looking for power amps specifically suited for bass, maybe even with tubes, we have a few power amps in our collection (QSC, etc) and they don't really have such a good tone for bass, they seem to either overload too fast from the low frequencies or just seem really cold and sterile
