Recommend a new rock/metal guitar!!

It would be something I'm looking for, but I'm not sure about the price either! It would be damn nice, but all the custom work I've seen over here is really quite expensive. The only exception is www.ranguitars.com in Poland, which I'm considering carefully at the moment.

Thanks man, any more ideas!?

You have a great forum style. Replies to everyone - good stuff, lol.

My idea is simply that you know best. I'm at the site, can't understand it - but if it not that expensive, consider it FURTHER. Always custom over production, wouldn't you say? Since you're a metalhead, you might want to consider a wacky shape?

Have fun at the gigs you're going to see, rock on!

The 400 range (almost the same) are like the deluxes but without the sparkly binding (if that's what the problem is).
You could get a good LTD with Duncans for that price

I'm not sure if they offer so much new to me. Maybe I'm just missing something, but I somehow feel odd about them.

Thanks anyway, do you have any other ideas!?

this guy gave me a quote for an exile i asked for the sd evh bridge and fullshred neck, a ping floyd rose (its the only licensed floyd to carry the floyd rose logo, its basicallly a floyd with a brass block), an evh d-tuna and shipping for 849. you can get an ofr for 60 dollars more i think, and pretty much any pickups you want in it, this was a custom shop quote. they look pretty well built and probably worth it. he makes some with a maple board, maybe you can ask for an ebony i was thinking about asking that.

Heh, thanks. I do my best.

You can click on the "english"-choice on the left. It's written in red. I can't read polish either.

Yes, custom is always better than production. It's just a shame that I've never tried one of their myself and don't know anyone who has. It's just their website and some internet discussion. It's a wild shot.

A wacky shape would be nice, I'm quite liberal-minded about them. I'm not one to dismiss the importance of looks in a guitar!

Those guitars do look nice and affordable. He also seems to know his business. I quite liked the "unchained"-model but it's out of stock atm. The problem here as well is that it's overseas. I'll have to think about it.

Thanks for the idea, do you have any others!?

I guess they're just not for you then. I feel the same way about MIJ Jacksons

Re: Recommend a new rock/metal guitar!!

Ibanez has some nice stuff in that price range. The Ibanez stock pickups aren't to impressived IMO, but I would think you could put some new ones in without going over your budget.

I'm basically looking for something new. I currently have two guitars, a Jackson DK-2, an HSS superstrat, and a Gibson SG Standard, a double hum setneck. I'd like something new, which IMO means something with maple or ebony board and neck-through or bolt-on construction. No vintage tremolos or hard-tails, only TOM or ORIGINAL Floyd Rose.

Musical style really is just rock/metal, I can't think of anything that much more specific, as my playing tastes vary quite a lot from time to time.

Do you really need a new guitar? I mean it sounds like you've pretty much covered the bases you're interested in already.

If you're really interested in something different, consider an SSS Strat. Maple neck, bolt-on, SSS will definitely take you into some uncharted tonal territory. Also consider Dean. They have a huge product lineup, quite affordable, and decent quality. Maybe a V?

jacksons can't be that expensive here in europ it depends on the series sure a USA select will be about 2500€ but not all are that expensive. But i came to dig the black diamondplate LTD Explorer. It looks cool as hell and has emg 81/60 set in it which makes it a great rock/metal axe(the 60 can even give you some jazz) and it's a tom bridge and not to expensive(about 750€ here in germany)

Yes, I was referring to USA jacksons. My main goal atm is actually an import jackson, the Kevin Bond Rhoads.

I'll have a look at the LTD you mentioned. It does sound nice! Thanks! Do you know of other cool guitars?

Apples and oranges. I'll keep my eyes open and try out those LTDs. I remember once trying an EC-1000 at a shop which played really, really good. Even disliking the looks, I'd have propably brought her home with me if I'd had the money.

Good call, I somehow mysteriously forgot of all other Ibanez's than the RG series. Maybe an S-model would serve me well. I'll have to look into that!

I have to admit that I haven't really heard of Peavey guitars excludin the VH model. What are they like? Any hands-on experience?

Thanks! Any others?

What I'd really need is an amp. I won't buy as I live in a flat and I can't really crank it. I'll make do with a PODxt. Guitars are... nice! I like guitars! I'd like something new. Even if I have a versatile setup already, it isn't perfect.

Yes it would, I've been looking at the Jimmie Vaughan strat for quite some time. At this financial situation I'm afraid that a curiosity such as that is not an option. It'll have to wait.

Deans? I'll have a look at them! I'm afraid my options are somewhat limited as I really don't like the V-headstock but I'll see what the rest looks like.

Thanks, can you think of something else too?

Re: Recommend a new rock/metal guitar!!

I've never owned a peavey but I've played several of the HP signature models and was very impressed and almost bought one.

I have the Ibanez S470 and love it. The pickups are alittle lacking in my opinion at least comparied to duncans. The zero trem on them is awsome much easier to work with than I thought it would be.

I actually misread your first post. I thought you said those (DK-2, SG, etc.) were the guitars you were considering. That's what I meant by get the Jackson. I'm surprised and sad to hear that Soloists are so expensive over there. I understand that they're a little higher in Europe, but I got mine for US $1300 brand new.

As for something different than what you've got, you might take a look at Godin guitars (h8red mention Seagull - part of the same company). I don't know if they deal over there or not, but they're nice guitars with several different styles (some even with SD pups) and reasonably priced, IMO.

um jacksonmia US jacksons arent that much anymore since 2003 i believe fender bought out jackson and charvel and raised the prices for about 15% those guitars are in the $1900 area.

Ok, I'll try to find them somewhere! See what the fuss is all about!

I've heard some very good things about that ZR-trem and I'm not afraid to get one at all. I already know of floyd and it's maintenance etc., string changes are a breeze. I'm sure that I'll have to say bye bye to the Ibanez pickups if I get one. Though, I'm not that sure if it's so much new to me. Is it?

Thanks! Nice of you to help me, please continue to do so, if you can!

???

The last US Charvel I asked a price for, a couple of weeks ago, was quoted a bit below 1400$.

Nonetheless, in Europe, they're all too expensive to me.

Do you know of other guitars that could suit me?
