I'd go digital. I have a Cube 60 and its the best solid state amp you can buy for under 500 bucks. Very handy to use live, and a great recording amp. Above those are probably line 6 flextones. Ive liked those. Or you swing for the Vetta 2.

The cube amps are the best thing under $500? You're kidding right? :dot:

They have a nice clean channel and nice chorus, that is ALL.


Best solid states ever made were the old randall RG series and the roland JC series.

i said the best ss amps, not compared to tube amps. I can't think of many other solid state amps worth buying today for less than 500 bucks.

Fender FM series. Marshall MG Series. Both work well, sound great and take pedals well. And each carry the signature amp sounds of their company (Fender's sparkling cleans, Marshall's saturated and ballsy distortion).

VOX Pathfinder 10 (the 15 is also probably good)

This one kills it! The VBM1 is also very nice sounding although doesn't really have the cleans, being all Brian May'ish.

Depending on what type of music you play off course, a Randall does not do bad at all imho, although off course others will disagree.
But I think Randalls are the kings of Solid State poweramps.

These sound nice with some effects in the loop and the SFX-03 in front. I was actually using this at rehearsals for a while. It is not a bad sounding amp for the price and convenience.

i'm with CRATE's Power Block, does well with pedals.
