Recommend me a bedroom amp please!!!

I used to have a Roland Cube 30, but I didn't care for the way my strat sounded through it. My P90, and HB guitars sounded ok, but the Strat sounded way to nasely.
I need something to play through in my small apartment that won't upset my neighbors (who rule) but will give me some amplified strat goodness.
I was thinking of a Line6 or perhaps Tech21. Or should I just get a POD and some headphones?
I would really love a tube amp, but at the low levels i'm talking about I think even that orange Tiny terror at 7/15 watts would be too much.
Please make some suggestions, while I love playing my acoustic, i'm an electric player at heart and NEED my strat fix ASAP!
Thanks in advance,
Louis

Re: Recommend me a bedroom amp please!!!

Look for an old Peavey Envoy 1x10 combo with the Transtube technology and the black/silver cosmetics. It's one of the best sounding practice amps I've played. It sounds so good, in fact, that I played my buddy's unit through my Marshall 2x12 cab at a low volume gig with excellent results.

Crate VC 508 1X8" Tube amp

I think it has been discontinued and replaced with the V58

The V58 is a great lil amp !

I have a Blues Jr. and this thing is fantastic for house levels, thanx to the vol & Master vol. lay-out !:smokin:

Sure you will not be able to crank either one of them in a house/appartment, but they do sound very good at lower vol's, at least to my ears !

Warning - that V58 is WAyyyyyyyy louder that you might think any 5watter will ever be !!!

Re: Recommend me a bedroom amp please!!!

Pathfinder 10 by VOX.

I also like the Brian May Special by VOX too. Excellent price for an excellent guitar. You could always get the VOC AC15

Re: Recommend me a bedroom amp please!!!

Vox DA5, DA15 or AD15VT. The difference is the AD15VT has the Valve Reactor Technology power amp, the DA series does not.

Re: Recommend me a bedroom amp please!!!

If you don't like the Roland I don't think you'll like the Line6s.

Re: Recommend me a bedroom amp please!!!

OMG...do I know the amp for you! I've been thinking of getting one of these, because they were designed with strats in mind. Get a Fender Cyber Deluxe or Cyber Twin. Stratdeluxer97 has one, and likes it for strats, and naturally uses the Gibsons with a Vox modeler. The Fender modeler, when tweaked to perfection will be perfect for you, where you need to keep the volume down, but retain nice strat tones. Since I'm in the same boat, more often than not, I like using modelers at home, because my tube amps are just way too loud for that. I leave the volume monsters at my friend's pro recording studio, which doubles as my rehearsal lockout. Check this one out.

Re: Recommend me a bedroom amp please!!!

:haha: He said "bedroom" amp!:chairfall

Not "ballroom" amp.

Still, it'd be hard to go wrong with a Celtic!

Re: Recommend me a bedroom amp please!!!

I've been wanting a Celtic since you started making em Scott. I'm just a little budgetly challenged these days....

Re: Recommend me a bedroom amp please!!!

i'd say have a good look and listen to those new VOX modeling amps..... cool tones for the bucks.

Re: Recommend me a bedroom amp please!!!

Probably my all time fave is a vintage Fender Champ 8" 5 Watts - but they're kind of overkill on the old budget. I also have worked with the Pignose, which I don't like cuz it has batteries that die if not coddled, and new ones twice equals the price of a new amp. I also have tinkered with the a Line6 15 Watt practice amp, which is inexpensive, and fairly effective, considering that it's ...well a bedroom amp. And the all time best...you're gonna crap...I grabbed a Marshall 1960AHW 4X12 with Greenbacks, and brought it into the house about three days ago ( review elsewhere ). Since My Rivera M60 head goes down to 8 Watts, I could actually noodle a little in the house at low vol. Tooo funny. The cab really shines at full peak though, but that's elsewhere.

Re: Recommend me a bedroom amp please!!!

I would like to second the Fender Cyber Twin. You can get great tone from these at low volumes. Not exactly a budget little practice amp at around $1300.00, but it is extremely versatile.

I can also recommend a Peaver Classic 30. Just plug a nice Tube Screamer or FAB Overdrive in front of it, and you can get some really nice tones at low volume.
