recommend me some mics!

i am looking for a good microphone to record vocals with, and i don't want to get anything crappy. however, i have a budget of no more than $600 (in reality it's about $350-after i get my hookup). i'm eyeballing the rode NTK and the blue baby bottle, but have yet to try out either. what do you all think of these, or is there anything else you would recommend?

i'm also looking for another condenser or two to use on hi-hats/drum overheads. there are so many models out there that i don't know what to consider. maybe the shure ksm109 or sennheiser e614? i'd like to spend no more than $400 or $450 (in actuality $200 or $250 after the hookup) for at least two.

my buddy's already got the shure drum mic kit with the sm57's and the beta 52, and i'm really happy with the way those sound. the 57's (we have 4 all together) cover the guitars, which just leaves vocals and overheads in need of some good mics. like i said before, i don't want to waste time or money on anything that i'll end up wanting to upgrade in a year. but hopefully i'll be able to make some purchases soon and start laying down some tracks...i'll have to post clips!! :D :D :D

I have a Samson CO1U USB Studio Condeser mic and it works great. Only cost me $300 and has really high clarity.

Wrong room, but moving on...

For vocals, RODE NT-1's sound AWESOME. Textures used one on their Polars album, and used an NT-2 on the new Drawing Circles one - it sounds ****ing ace!

For OH's, I'd go with the matched pair of C4's from Studio Projects. They run 300 new for both.

It's RØDE, not "Rode" ;)

Get yourself a keyboard with some more keys :D

I use a SE Electronics se2200a http://www.seelectronics.com/sE2200a.html

And it's so good, I think i'm going to do a whole EP using it.

yeah, but i know way more people read in the off topic room... whoops

lots of great recommendations though! i definitely have some choices to make.

but as far a sthe NTK and the baby bottle, does anyone have experience with those specific models? i ask simply because they look to be something that may suit my needs for vocals, and they are easily available.

Re: recommend me some mics!

SE Electronics stuff isn't easily available where you are? I'm suprised :(

Re: recommend me some mics!

The AT4050 is a good mic, and was recommended to me by Joe Chicarelli (not to name drop but I trust him, he's a good producer) for a mid priced mic. I have used both the AT4050 and the Shure SM7 on recent projects, they are both good for rock. I'm not a big fan of Rode mics or a lot of the newer mics with a hyped high end. The KSM44 by Shure seems to get a lot of action for overheads. Most of those are a little higher than your budget but you might be able to find used?
