i am looking for a good microphone to record vocals with, and i don't want to get anything crappy. however, i have a budget of no more than $600 (in reality it's about $350-after i get my hookup). i'm eyeballing the rode NTK and the blue baby bottle, but have yet to try out either. what do you all think of these, or is there anything else you would recommend?
i'm also looking for another condenser or two to use on hi-hats/drum overheads. there are so many models out there that i don't know what to consider. maybe the shure ksm109 or sennheiser e614? i'd like to spend no more than $400 or $450 (in actuality $200 or $250 after the hookup) for at least two.
my buddy's already got the shure drum mic kit with the sm57's and the beta 52, and i'm really happy with the way those sound. the 57's (we have 4 all together) cover the guitars, which just leaves vocals and overheads in need of some good mics. like i said before, i don't want to waste time or money on anything that i'll end up wanting to upgrade in a year. but hopefully i'll be able to make some purchases soon and start laying down some tracks...i'll have to post clips!!
