JCM 800s aren't one trick ponies. The 900 has the more typical buzzy 80s tone compared to the 800s. Graham Coxon from Blur and James Dean Bradfield from the Manics have both used JCM 800s extensivley, both great exponents of the Brit-rock movement.

Other big 90's rock bands using the 800s were Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and Rage Against the Machine.

amen, give me an 800 for what oasis play, anyday :laugh2:

900 users include thursday, blink 182, papa roach etc.. if i was offered the choice, 800. hands down!

JeffB - you've never heard of Oasis???!?!!

HEATHEN!!!!!! BURRRNNNNN HIIIMMM!!!!!

Actually, I'm not joking :D if you have any respect for rock and roll, grab Definately Maybe or Morning Glory albums.

I mean really, what is the world coming to when people aren't familiar with Oasis? tsk tsk...

And greendy123, a combo would be better for home use.

John, just as a question, are R24 and R25 100k for "attenuating" reasons... just curious as I usually opt for the 220k's here...with C19 and C20 being utilized for much better low end response....if that's what the customer's after..

...looks good, nice work bro!!

Are you talking about the 220k bias feed resistors? I Knock them down to 100k or I'll use a post phase inverter master volume that is a double stacked 100k pot instead of the 220ks.....If that's what you're asking? 100ks get you a bit more preamp gain and it's safer on your output tubes..Using 100k here instead of the 220k takes some highend harshness away....I also raise the cap value up on the 47pf cap you see connected between the 100k resistors and the green and orange wires up to 100 or 120pf..This also smooths things out....There are quite a few very cool mods that you aren't seeing in Jeff's amp...Another is a cap and resistor combination in the feedback circuit, but I did quite a few very safe and effective "enhancement" mods........ :13:

I've heard the name mentioned here on the forums a bit. But I don't listen to the radio much..haven't in 10 years..and when I do it's generally a jazz or classical station. I'm an old fart now ;)

I'll check them out. How familiar are you with the players in my sig? :D

Jeff - can't say I'm a big fan of any of those guys :os , but I have heard of them all, and have listened to at least something they've all done. Anyways, none of those guys has had the [RECENT!] popular success of Oasis. Anyways, get one or both of those albums. Definately Maybe is rough, unpolished, and rips off many, many 60s and 70s bands; Morning Glory is a bit more pop-friendly and balanced.

Forbes - Have you heard Lyla, the new single? Sounds pretty good IMO. Anyway, here's hoping for the new album on May 30th!!! :)

Yer not bad, certainly not thier best though, but apparently there is MUCH better songs on the album, this was just an older discarded song that they put on at the end because they needed a song that sounded like a 'first single'.

dude, like Michael Schenker. Gary Moore. Jake E. Lee. Mathias Jabs. John Sykes. Brian Robertson. Scott Gorham. John Norum. Yngwie Malmsteen. Ritchie Blackmore. Peter Frampton? :)

hehe oasis are good, but they came along at just the right time.. same with nirvana, same with just about every 'huge' group since pre-beatles
