Tried one of the new Floyd Rose Guitars with the speedload strings this weekend and it is fantastic. It was a mahogony fender style body with great binding. The neck was a bit thin for my taste, but the sound and quality was great. The open triangle in the neck is perfect for hanging on the wall. Cool guitar, glad to see Floyd Rose back with a bang. Cost is $1,600 but apparently they have some lower cost models. I'd like to check them out too.

I played it with a Dr Z Maz 18 with 2 10" speaker. Perfect combo.

I'm strangely interesting in those guitars. How thin is the neck, say, compared to a 62 ri strat?

Re: Redmond Series Model K Floyd Rose Guitar

I haven't tried a 62 ri strat. It wasn't really uncomfortably thin. I just noticed it was a bit thin. I usually play standing up, but at the shop I played sitting down so that might have made the neck feel a bit awkward. They're cool guitars.

Brad Whitford has been hot and heavy on those guitars.

Re: Redmond Series Model K Floyd Rose Guitar

I'm kind of turned off by the "pre-tuned" strings. If they come stretched to the point they'll stretch no more, doesn't that mean they're pretty close to dead?

Re: Redmond Series Model K Floyd Rose Guitar

I'm pretty sure the strings not having to be stretched is a big plus. Not sure why, though. If it works as promised, which I think it will, it's really cool.
