See the "7" sticker by the master volume? What's that all about? :wrf:

"These ones go to seven". :dunno:

No idea. How can you tell? Other than it looking newer than everything else.....

I know what you mean. I don't want to rip the guy off. Honestly! I'll speak to Ryan tomorrow and see what the situation is. But the guy is an experienced musician, it's not like he's some old lady who's just found the thing in her cellar. It seems he doesn't want the hassle of an Ebay transaction, shipping etc, and he just wants a quick sale. I think Ryan said the brother bought it five or six years ago for £325. Seems cheap I know!

That would be very telling ...
Try emailing Marshall with the codes or serial numbers to see if it's a direct replacement or not.

That amp is thee classic European/British Heavy Metal amp.

Way cool amp score- I honestly don't think these amps get anywhere near what respect they deserve. As far as price goes, you're not exactly ripping the guy off for $700, but it is a really nice price to pay.

Ooooh, that's the bird with the vertical inputs, in' it.

All the JMP series MV heads had vertical inputs- it wasn't until AFTER the JCM series had been introduced that the horizontal inputs were used.

The transformers look fine compared to my 78 and 81-

That looks like a 'wire marker' label. You get a booklet of numbered labels, there's two that are single numbers about that size, and then two that have the number 3 or 4 times and the strip is about an inch long. They're used, primarily for computer snakes and stuff, so you know what cable you're plugging into where...

Probably just a volume marker- but 7 on that head is going to be loud at 16 ohms thru a 4x12...

Re: Remember that '77 JMP 2204 I was on about?

A Marshall JMP would certainly be an amp I'd love to have my hands on. Run a Keeley modded tube screamer and possibly a Ultra DS1, smokin' tone. Or even just the amp alone with a Strat. That'd be some sick blues right there. The boys of AC/DC also get some killer tones from Marshalls like those and similar. Drooling about thinking of arunning my 71 SG through a JMP half stack.....
