Rhythm practice and some other stuff.

Hi.

I have some stuff that I cannot get past.

1. Rhythm training. Playing to a metronome is so utterly boring, and I cannot hit every click, the problem is that when I mute the strings, its fine. But when I try to hit a note I fail, even if its the same note. Any suggestions?

2. I am stuck in music. I have played for 1 year, and find myself stuck and unmotivated. In the beginning I learnt alot. Then I got a teacher who tought me some riffs, but didnt cover any basic stuff. Then I got a teacher who was nowhere near what I was into. Then i quit my current teacher, who has really taught me alot and been a big help in my playing, because I found myself getting bored again.

I can some techniques, pulloffs/hammerons, palmmuting, tapping to a certain extent and some other stuffs. And can play alot of parts from various riffs.

I have spent the last week just thinking, I wanna live doing this stuff, but how do I get motivated again, and how do I really master all of the basic techniques?

Then a solution came up, the guitarport, which I think could be a great tool as I like small part from alot of players.

Take all of them I like:
Angus Young.
Steve Vai.
Yngwie Malmsteen.
Kirk Hammett/Hetfield.
Dave Murray/Adrian Smith.
Glenn Tipton/KK Downing.
Slash.
Warrants guitarists.
Mick Mars.
Vivian Campbell.
Richie Blackmoore.
Randy Rhoads.
Jay Jay French/Eddie Ojeda.
Tony Iommi.
Eddie Van Halen.
Europes guitarist.

As you can see its pretty far stretching, everything from 70s pentatonic style players, to neo-classical shredders.

I have some songs that I wanna master totally, but I just dont know where to start.

Out of those players, whom would suit me beast to start out with, so I first could get my rhythm down good? And in which order would you begin to study their songs and styles, and learning how to play like them, and adapt their stuff to my own playing?

And how is it easiest to really practice rhythm? And what do you do to get the spirit back?

I am sorry for a long post with many questions, but I dont wanna quit music because of this.

Thanks alot.

-AH.
