RIDICULOUS wiring problem (emg)

Hey guys, I just purchased a new guitar with emgs and for some freaky reason I can't seem to get powered sound. Just sounds like there's no battery even when I put one in. Even stranger, the wiring harness is some confusing hybrid of solderless and soldered parts. I sick at this sort of thing. There's also I believe a ground wire just floating around but IDK where to even ground this? I have seen this guitar work, it was a friends. It started messing up and so he sold it to me. What is wrong here?? image.jpg

The items that are visible in your photograph appear correct.

Things not seen:
The block connectors on the underside of the pickups. (Could be on the wrong way about.)
The solder joint under red insulation tape carrying the signal and ground.
The solder joints under red heat shrink tubing carrying the signal.
The battery clip. (The wires could have been strained and broken at the two terminals.)

I may not be seeing the picture correctly, but it looks like the black wire is disconnected between the tone pot and toggle switch at the tone pot side.

Yes that wire is just hanging, I have no idea where it goes.it's the ground I believe but idk where I'd put it. I think normally its soldered to the back of a pot but I can't do that. Also the grey heat shrink bit confused me a lot. I'd assume it's just a place to put all the grounds together? But would a lack of grounding cause a weak signal simulating no battery? Whatever the issue is, its keeping that battery from giving the setup juice. I'll check the battery connector but I'm open to other possible ideas. If nothing else, HOW CAN I wire this from scratch? I don't understand how the solderless pots were integrated.

Having constructed these bespoke semi-Solderless wiring harnesses before, I am surprised that the perpetrator did not simply use the EMG Buss PCB. Much simpler!

I agree. That would fix the problem surely. If I had some cash id just get a solderless kit and do that. I'd like to just make use of what I have though.

Do you - or the vendor - have the EMG pickup packaging, wiring instructions and unused electronics parts?

Re: RIDICULOUS wiring problem (emg)

Leave the ground wire disconnected.

It looks like the connectors on the volume pot are reversed. When you have the 6 pins pointing upwards - Middle pair (pins 3-4) is for input from a pickup or switch. Right hand pair (pins 5-6) is for output to the tone pot or jack.
