RMC4 Picture Wah Demo

Re: RMC4 Picture Wah Demo

Not only have you guys hijacked the thread with dubious man love inuendo, but you've SOLD OUT as well.

Keith, you shouldn't Teese Christian like that...

See, got it back on topic......

Re: RMC4 Picture Wah Demo

PW sounds pretty darn good. I think I'm going to have to pick one up and give it a try. I've already got the RMC3 which I love but that authentic Italian wah tone is pretty tasty. Would be nice as I could then tweak the RMC3 for a bit of a wilder sound and run the PW for my vintage wah needs perhaps.....

I picked up a KR Megavibe off ebay by the way Geoff, based upon your recommendation. Hasn't arrived yet but it will be fun doing the a/b with my Mojovibe. Actually I guess a/b/c with the Ubervibe I've still got as well.

got to love ebay sometimes as it saved me waiting 3 months for Kevin's mile long waiting list lol

Yeah, there's definitely something extra funky about the Picture Wah. Can a guy have too many wahs? I don't think so...

Great score on the Megavibe, I've checked eBay a few times but I've never seen one...I must put in a search. Well, if for some reason you don't like it, you can always send it for an extended vacation DownUnder!

Veering slightly off topic this time…

Post some clips of the KR vs the Sweet Sound, if you get a chance. I've got a Mojovibe as well, and Geoff pointed out to me KR's stuff. Sounds incredible.

We might have to get on that list Keith, I can't imagine they come up too often. We'll get the full rundown from millsart first. I've gone nuts in the last couple of weeks buying pedals, the Picture Wah, Zendrive, a ZVex Box of Rock and a Mad Professor Little Green Wonder! Oh, and a second hand Demeter Tremulator! But I still want to get my hands on a Megavibe and Gypsy Fuzz.

Holy crap, man!

You should have checked with me first. I have a Tremulator I rarely use. I'm reticent to give it up, on the off-chance I'll find regular use for it, but I would have given you a sweet deal.

Thanks anyway bro, but you wouldn't really want to give it up! That's one sweet trem. The one I scored is No. 057, in the custom red. You know how it goes, about a week after you let it go, something would come up where you were going "I really need a sweet trem! Now, where did I put my Tremu.....Oh no!"

Re: RMC4 Picture Wah Demo

Definatly look for my thoughts on the vibe pedals guys. My better half loves to point out that she thinks I enjoy comparing pedals and talking about them more than actually playing them LOL. Sometimes I think she's right, at least to some degree. Part of the fun is the quest for "that sound". Even if they did make a mfx box that did everything perfect, I wouldn't be much a fan because honestly trying all the different stuff, sharing my thoughts with you guys, talking with the boxes builders etc is really just part of the whole experience and I wouldn't want to miss out on it.

It will be a tough comparison in some regards though because I know they will both be excellent pedals, and both from really great builders. Just like a case with the Teese wahs, its hardly saying that one is "better" than another because it comes down to simply choosing between two great taste, both as good as it gets.

More hijacking...I don;t use univibe type units mostly for 2 reasons. One, I feel like it's hard to use one w/o people thinking about Hendrix and 2...none of them sound completely right to me! However if I was gonna buy a vibe pedal I'd look into the new FoxRox Aqua Vibe...Mmm...Aqua Vibe...:naughty:

LOL, Even when I'm playing a Hendrix cover I don't know if enough people in the audience know its Hendrix which either means they don't know good music...... or they do know good music and mine just ain't the same thing :scratchch

It really is intresting how different all the vibes do sound though. I mean they all sound like a vibe more or less, but they've all got something unique in the tones. For such a simple and primative circuit you'd think they'd all be carbon copies but nothing is further from the truth, just like a fuzz pedal I guess.

The Aqua does look intresting, and anything Dave makes is pretty good of course, but from the clips I've heard so far, I wasn't exactly floored by it.

Hard to judge off just that but it sounded a bit too lush and "underwaterish" for my taste. I would say "AquaVibe" is the perfect name for it though.

I like the harder throb "machine gun" vibe myself

Re: RMC4 Picture Wah Demo

I've heard people use a Univibe-type pedal to excellent effect without sounding like Hendrix. Check out Mad Season's first -- and only -- album, Above, for great examples. McCready has excellent tone, and his Univibe -- I'm pretty sure he uses a Dunlop reissue -- sounds very sweet. Yes, he and Hendrix share Seattle roots, but McCready's sound is all his.

Funny you said that...McCready's use of a Univibe is on of the things that drove me to really dislike a univibe!!!

I saw Pearl Jam several years back (worst show I've ever seen FWIW) but Mike used a univibe on nearly every song...it was terrible and drove me nuts!

That just shows that different people like/dislike different things!

Maybe so, maybe not. If I were at that show, I'd probably tire of his use of the Univibe as well. I think his use of it is tasteful on Above. Like a wah, a Univibe is such a cool effect that people may be tempted to overdo it.

Re: RMC4 Picture Wah Demo

Somehow vintage italian wah's and vibe pedals seem to go hand in hand LOL

I use a vintage italian wah[Jen]never used a Uni-Vibe!:kabong:

Re: RMC4 Picture Wah Demo

I used the Picture Wah at my gigs over the weekend. Unbelievable wah tone. Just dripping with character and funk, and completely undaunted by substantial amounts of both overdrive and distortion after it. I think I may even prefer it for many applications over my RMC1. Although, I think the RMC1 would win out for clean recorded tracks when the requirement is for something really smooth. They are both killer wahs. Geoffrey Teese is a wah genius.

Re: RMC4 Picture Wah Demo

The RMC3 is highly tweakable. Does anyone know if there are settings to get the Picture Wah (RMC4) tone out of an RMC3?
