Running jbjr tone control below 10?

I'm not sure which pot was used. It's a 920D wired/loaded pickguard with Lil59 neck, duckbucker middle and JbJr bridge, assembled for me in 2019. When I roll the bridge tone control down to 7 I not only lose too much treble but also seems like the level goes down more than it should. At 7 in position 2 with the duckbucker it also is softer and thinner. I've tried several different pickup heights including the recommended one.
I think I'm going to leave that bridge tone control at 10 and try two things: First, lower the treble side of that pickup.
If that doesn't really solve it then I'll still leave it at 10 and adjust EQ , amp presence etc in my Helix preset to compensate for that spiky behaviour.

If the tone cap is of standard value and the tone pot correctly wired, this behaviour is typical of a damaged wiring or pickup. The simplest way to check if it's the case is to measure the DCR of the JB Jr: if it shows no reading or an incredibly high value, something in the signal path is acting like a series capacitor (and in most cases, it's a damaged coil).

I lowered the treble side of the pickup 1/4 turn so that's about 5mm and lowered the presence on the "dumble style" amp from 4 to 1 and it's very useable now. ( amp is Line 6 Helix litigator ) And position 2 sounds like a strat should without even flipping the coil split switch

Well, it was a simple question of height and tone settings, so. Glad for you if it works...

The good thing being that a simple capacitor in series suffices to emulate the related tone. ;-)

Well, next time you change strings, snap a few pics of the wiring anyway in case there is something going on there. I also wonder about the value of the tone cap and the pots.

What kind of a screw will lower the pup 5mm with just 1/4 turn? Maybe you meant .5mm? But then that would hardly be enough difference to hear. Or maybe you meant 4 turns?

I meant that after adjusting it a bit lower it was NOW about 5mm from the treble side screw heads. It's hard to measure with this stewmac silver-colored , rectangular measuring tool, mainly because the lettering is too small.
