i installed a s.d. hot rails into the bridge position of my 2012 fender usa tele. using the wiring dia. on the s.d. site.put the guitar back together, hooked it up to my amp. & it's way to noisy [ i've used this p/u before with no problems] on a peavey reactor.do i have to change the vol.pot to 500k to calm down the noise issue ? i used the black wire as the hot to the switch as it states in the diagram.i thought i read somewhere that in this install,if your not going to change the neck p/u - use the green wire as the hot ??? thanks

Other than the noise issue, do they sound like they're in-phase with each other? Thats the normal concern with mixing pickups.

they are out of phase.the s.d. makes the neck p/u sound terrible & when the switch is in the middle position they sound tinny.in the bridge position it sounds very good, but it's very noisy.almost sounds like it isn't grounded.when i touch the volume control knob,it takes out most of the noise.i'm at a loss as to what the problem is...thanks

I had the same problem with a USA Tele I stuck a Hotrail into......The only way to fix it in my situation was to disconnect the bare ground wire. Don't know why it worked but it did! I didn't have the same problem with my other Tele, Hotrail in that too....go figure!

Re: s.d. hot rails bridge p/uin a fender usa tele

i pulled the s.d. back out of the tele. & put the original back in.i might try the bare wire thing at some point.i'm just going to enjoy what i have for now.thanks
