Have any of you guys played these, What the Story with these models (Ibanez dont have a very descriptive description on their site)..I just really thought these guitars are really really cool looking but havent played one, I never liked Ibanez becuase im not fond of the way the RG's look and i dont like the wizard necks..But From what i can tell from the site the neck on these guitars are pretty much the same as a Wolfie.......

Anyone?? :)

Re: Satch Ibanez models...

i love the satch guitars to death!

they're pretty much perfect for me. i love the enck, love that body i love everythng!

Re: Satch Ibanez models...

I played the the more expensive and the cheaper one about 4 years ago. I was able to shred on the better one ...

It's nice and comfortable, but I wasn't bowled over by the tone ...

Re: Satch Ibanez models...

Well A pickup change would change that, Really what matters is the playability and comfort, although i wont know that till i play one

Cheers guys..

Re: Satch Ibanez models...

it has 22 frets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sorry.. lol that makes the neck pup sound so much better IMO

it has a nice neck, very comfortable - not as thick as a wolfie though.

you'd be better off getting the more expensive one since the trem isnt that great on the cheaper one... and the pups aren't as nice either (unless they've changed that because the cheap one didnt have fred/paf pro when i played one)

they are pretty comfortable to play, but tbh i wouldnt rate it against a wolfgang - the wolfie is just a nicer guitar.

+ the trem is backrouted ... sheesh :D

Re: Satch Ibanez models...

it's the best ibanez guitar. nice comfortable body and a neck that is similar to the jackson ones, very comfortable, easy to play

Re: Satch Ibanez models...

I have a rare JS Hardtail with strings-through-the-body. That's me, second from left, playing it. It's a very cool guitar. Basswood body, maple neck, rosewood board -- and a pair of Phat Cats that screeeeeeeeam.

While at NAMM last week, I talked to the guys at Ibanez about it. They're trying to identify it for me. It seems like a pretty rare axe. I don't care about that -- it just plays great and sounds great.

Re: Satch Ibanez models...

One Ibanez I would like to identify is a Tele copy that Satch played back before he shaved his head. This is the only pic I have seen and I can't tell anything about it other than I know it's an Ibanez.

just one thing.. what is the reason of a hardtail satch guitar? i mean.. he IS one of the top floyd abusers..

Re: Satch Ibanez models...

butch i havent seen that before! intresting

there are two hardtail satch models.. a new one with a hardtail bridge built like an edge (yeah i thought whats the point as well)

and theres a mahogany one with a (to my knowledge) wraparound bridge and P90s.

couldnt tell you the model numbers to save my life

there should be a model around this year with the PAF JOE as well (his new neck bucker) havent seen one yet though

Perhaps for studio use? The tuning is a bit more stable when you play a hardtail. The Floyd vibrates a lot when you play aggressively ... Just my opinion; maybe it's a prototype?!

Re: Satch Ibanez models...

I've seen the wraparound/P90 Satch model, though I don't know if they sell it anymore. I'd like to have one :)

they dont unfortunately.

i've only ever seen one - second hand in a music shop...

i wish i would have tried it because now i'll never know what its like :smack:

Re: Satch Ibanez models...

I think that the Satriani models started outin the 80's as the Ibanez Saber series, which then split off into the Satriani JS series and the standard Ibanez S series. The new ZR trem on the S-series is a blast BTW.

Oh yeh of course!
Thats also the main reason i never liked ibanez, i just dont like the feel of 24 fret guitars, not to mention the neck puo is closr to the bridge..I was kinda interested in the JS 1000, its seems a tad cheaper than the JS 1200..there both floating floyds but it would be nice to have one...:laugh2:
