Satch Ibanez models...

Re: Satch Ibanez models...

I have a pretty rare hardtail MIJ JS.

Here's a picture of it.

Great guitar. I've used it on a lot of gigs. I have Phat Cats in it now.

Sweet! Just by looking at the headstock I'd say an early 90's JS model neck. Is that body blue or black (original paint?) and do you know if those are the original tone/volume knobs (with or without push pull?) and nut? Maybe it's a prototype? Or it could be a JS6 that was painted but then the body would be Mahogany. I'm stumped! Nice guitar whatever it's history is!

Thats interesting, especially considering that Warmoths explanation for compound radii clearly refers to the fingerboard curvature... http://www.warmoth.com/guitar/necks/necks.cfm?fuseaction=radius

So does this mean that Ibanez's definition of a "coumpund radius" is in actuality hat most of us would call an "asymmetrical neck/back profile" ??

Hmmm...

The definition from Hoshino agreed that "compound radius" referred to the fretboard, but they spoke of the neck profile as "multi-radius". Pretty confusing for sure :).

Oh well... in any case it's an awesome guitar and a very killer neck to boot!

I thought Vai was the one with the chromed-out Jem that was gonna be released!

It's supposed to be like the one he has with the blue LEDs in the fretboard but, of course, without the cool lights.

Re: Satch Ibanez models...

the JS was an adaptation of the Radius series, not the Sabre. the Radius had rounded edges + thinner bass side, unlike the sabre whose body is tapered to give a curved overall physique

here's how the sabre looks like from the tail-end...

the JS with a wrapover bridge is the JS700

if Mr. Evan's JS had this look prior to it being black, it would most likely be this JS6

Yeah, I figured he'd get a chrome one this year too when I saw that photo!

Here's a clipping of the JS at the bottom to compare the difference.
