No dobt most of us have read about ledzepp29's getting scammed by the guy in Brazil, so I went to HC and searched the ads with the email ledzepp29 provided and came up with this.

Alright, I'm trying to fool him into thinking I'm going to buy his 1972 Fender Princeton Reverb. Hopefully if I can get that bastard on AIM or MSN, etc.. I can nab an IP.

Hi I found your ad on Harmony Central and saw that you have a 1972 Fender Princeton Reverb for sale. My dad used to have one and I would love to surprise him with this one. He's obviously a pro because he knows what desireable amps to list, and he appears to be doing an internet 'smash and grab.' He wants to pull in a bunch of money, then disapear. An IP address would be great. If he appears to be a big shark to Brazilian authorities, they may actually do something.

I have an email bugger that plants a miniscule HTML in email that follows the email whereever it goes. It tells me who opened it, where they were when they opened it, how long they looked at it, to whom they might forward it to and same for them, tells me their operating system, IP address, the works. I don't know if it works on something like Yahoo.com, it might just show me the yahoo stuff. But I sent him an email inquiring about the recto 50 so as soon as he opens it I'll post the results here.

If he's as pro as you guys are suggesting. He will be smart enough to not use a static IP, or better yet... use an internet cafe or similar, perhaps even a proxy service provider...
Even a large company/community network, all running of the same connection...

I'm guessing 9 out of 10 crooks are not "PROS" in the sense that they are smart enough to actually think they will get caught. I'm guessing TC's bugger will track him down once he sees the "interest" in the amp & Proxy's will confirm everything....kind of triangulate his whereabouts.

Guys, i wonder if this programme helps. its tracks down an email from someone based on a database. all you need is the mail header.
hope this helps narrows down the search!
