Schecters are great... I love my Omen 6, not quite the same thing as a C1 classic, but it's got the best neck ever in my hands... I'm often tempted by others, but the Schecter just seems so perfect for me I don't need another guitar. It's THAT good, even compared to guitars that cost twice as much. (I'm afraid to pick up guitars that cost more than twice as much as my Schecter, so I wouldn't know anything past that...)
As for the never having played schecters that haven't been enjoyable... You obviously haven't been to the San Bernardino Guitar Center... They had a new C1 set up so badly that the neck basically bowed back, and the strings couldn't even make a sound. On the floor, ready to be bought! My Omen 6 was new... but so dirty it looked used... and the nut had fallen off... and it was missing half the strings... but damn if it wasn't a good player, and I managed to knock 100 bucks off the price! Magic when I touched that thing... I won't even mention the other Omen 6, that somehow had an output jack plugged in where the tone control should be... in addition to the standard output jack...
yeah... GC sucks.
