Schecter Hellcat VI through guitar amp

I am considering purchasing one of these monstrosities:

My question is that since this guitar has a 30" scale length and is tuned an octave below standard (4 steps below a standard baritone, low E), is there any danger of me damaging a normal guitar amp with this? What about the speakers?

My amp is a Blackheart BH100H Hothead with EL34s, planning on using eminence swamp thang speakers. I'd also like to get a VHT Special 6 Ultra practice amp, It'd be nice if I could play it through this too.

alright cool man thanks, I should have added also that a regular bass is typically 34" scale, 4" longer that the Hellcat 6. Looks like you have some cool axes there Astro, I'd like to see some pics.

Re: Schecter Hellcat VI through guitar amp

the string gauges arent as heavy as a bass, itll feel more like a baritone. cranked completely you could get some flub, but if you keep everything gain-wise tight then youll just create natural distortion and will be ok.

Hince, from the Kills plays something like this, although i think his might be restrung to tune a wee bit higher. anyways, he sounds fine

i take that back, i may have been more or less under the influence when i saw them, he doesnt. its the pick up configuration that threw me

Re: Schecter Hellcat VI through guitar amp

As mentioned, be careful with the bass on your amp. Other than that it should be fine!

Super cool guitar BTW.

Re: Schecter Hellcat VI through guitar amp

You won't hurt the amp --- the only thing you could tear up is speakers, but you'd have to be cookin'.

Your 4x12 won't be the only cones a rippin' when you sling that beast!

I was really tempted by one of those things just recently, actually.

So I bought a 24" scale guitar instead.

Those things are ****ing sweet, though.

AstroZombie, are you a cure fan? I Just built me a Warmoth Robert Smith Fender VI. The Schecter is a bit....modern?

Re: Schecter Hellcat VI through guitar amp

Lemmy has played bass through the same marshall guitar amplifiers for decades and they still work just fine.

If you´re going for high volumes you speakers may have issues, but this depoends entirely on what exact drivers you have in there now. As far as the electrical circuit of the ampolifier gies, it couldn´t care less what instrument you want to have louder. It just does it´s job, collects it´s paycheck, and goes home to bone it´s wife and drink beer ;)
