OHH yeah..... this guitar is sweet im thinkin about doin a pick up swap though put in some duncans or EMG's...i hear the JB and 59s duncans are best for heavy rock/metal...i know this is abotu the 3rd time asked this but im right in saying these pick ups are good right?

Re: schecter omen 6

The JB/59 combo is very popular but I honestly wouldn't recomend it for the Omen 6, especially not if you're mainly into metal. I have a Jazz neck/Custom bridge set in my 006 Deluxe and it's phenominal as well as extremely versatile. For pure metal, I find that the SH6 Distortion is a perfect match for just about all Schecters.

Re: schecter omen 6

custom/jazz or custom/59 is a good metal setup...so's the distortions, but some players find em a bit "grainy". The JB is great in the right guitar...plenty of metal players out there that use it. Though it all depends if you're into that upper-mid spike or not.

Which color is it? The Walnut Satin is actually a mahogany body, I've asked Schecter about this before.

Is it really? My 006 Deluxe is walnut satin and even though I never really believed it was solid basswood, I couldn't figure out just what it was. Too heavy to be basswood and doesn't really look like it either...someone actually asked my if it was purpleheart once, but he didn't know how cheap it was. That's really interesting, thanks for the heads up!

Re: schecter omen 6

I thought it was basswood, too, which os why I lost interest in it as my next guitar, but that's good to know it's mahogany. Sounds like a sweet choice, and I second the custom/jazz combo. That's what I'd put in it.

Peace.

Re: schecter omen 6

whoooa are you serious the walnut satin is what i got....is it really mohagany...damn ive always liked mahogany...god damn i thought it was basswoood to this is really exciting me cause i knew it was diffrent after i picked it up as well cause it was to heavy to be basswood...nicey very nice im so happy to hear this now

Re: schecter omen 6

hehe...just went and checked, mine is at least 4 pieces, maybe even 5...but it DOES look like mahagony! Not nearly as good looking as the stuff Warmoth used on my soloist, but nice nonetheless.

so then a custom/jazz is a good set up for stuff like, killswitch engage, shadows fall, trivium, black label society, and then a little more mellower stuff like breaking benjamin, cold, staind on a schecter omen 6

Cha-friggen-ching! The wife hooked me up with a satin Omen6 this christmas, and my pops hooked up a set of Mayhem SD Distortions. I'm psyched. i can't wait to put em' in. what the "H" does "grainy" mean? like the static on an off-air TV channel ("snow")?

If you really want to know about the wood, contact schecter. they're quick to reply. took them a whole 12 hours to reply to my questions.

I like my Omen, Black Basswood.

I tried these pup combos:

JB/Jazz DD/DD DD/Jazz Custom/Jazz Custom/DD

I like the Custom/DD in that guitar.
