Schecter Omen Extreme 6

Re: Schecter Omen Extreme 6

Yeah, Purdy guitar, but I have a Les Paul . . . looking for that double cutaway, super strat style . . . just don't know anything about those Pups . . . you say you played one a while back, was it the MS or MD model? Set in neck with the Mahogany body and string thru bridge . . . . hmmmm . . . . just really wondering about the electronics and how those pups sound compared to the Diamond Plus Alnico Hummers in the Schecter???

Blue, if it is Transparent with the quilted top, or purple, or green, all look amazing . . .Green is just my favorite color! :)

well couldnt have guessed that from your screen name

yea I played the two in the links listed
and the rail pickups dont sound like full humbuckers
they dont sound bad, just doing their own thing

Re: Schecter Omen Extreme 6

Understand it might not be a "Big, complicated feature" but it's one I like. And I may upgrade the Pups sometime down the road, but certainly NOT an immediate thing. 1st mod I see might/would be tuner locks, with 2nd being changing the actual tuners to Grovers. Changing the pups to Seymour Duncan's is probably somewhere down the road . . . so again, Bang for the buck for a quality ax out of the box . . . I think it's pretty good!

Adding a push-pull pot for coil splitting is something that can be done easily on any guitar with a four-conductor pickup. I think the set-neck Schecters are a cut above in tone and playability. I'd take a used C-1 over any of their bolt-on models.

Remember to unplug actives when you're not using them.

Re: Schecter Omen Extreme 6

Ok, ok, ok . . . . not wanting to seem like a total "waffler" but I REALLY am looking for the best bang for the buck, and since I have not yet pulled the trigger, I'm still researching . . .

EHD said something that made me go back and look at the Mitchell MD400 again, and I did . . . and I have researched it, and I have even asked some people I know about it . . .buddy of mine from HS is in a band back in VA and he said his lead guitarist just bought one of these and LOVES it!! Great tones, versatile and an overall great buy!! He even said if he wasn't over-loaded on Ax's he would buy one too!!
So . . . . without waffling anymore, I think I'm going with the MD400 in Transparent Green Quilted Maple top. It's a solid mahogany body with a set in neck, locking tuners with a TUSQ Nut, medium jumbo frets on an Indian Rosewood fretboard, passive pickups, string thru body . . . and Musician's Friend has them on sale right now. Free shipping plus a 2 year free warranty!!
Thanks for all of the advice, I do really appreciate it.
BTW, I love the look of that Cort KX as well, good looking piece!!
