Re: School me on Classic DOD dirt boxes.
The American Metal was the first distortion box I ever heard or used. A good friend had it and passed it on to my little brother. It was a decent pedal, and IIRC didn't sound all that bad. Pretty thick sounding pedal and better than my onboard distortion on my little Peavey practice amp (come on guys, I was like 14, lol).
The Thrash Master was the first distortion I owned. I was in my first rock band when I got it. All the guys thought it was TOO gainy. It had a lot of cut, but was not versatile at all. I did like the extreme color though and wish I'd kept it now just for the nostalgia.
The DOD 250 is a strange beast. I don't have a classic one, but do have a couple of Analogman modded ones, supposedly to vintage spec. Sounds terrible on the Fender amps I have but is just perfect with the Marshall's, especially the YJM 100 (which in itself is a killer amp). Actually gets great RR style tones too with my Les Paul, which is awesome for my playing style.
