Screamin demon question

so a friend offerd me a used tb-12 george lynch bridge and i decided to put it on my knew les paul SX. ive gone threw thre search toll gere in the forum and found something about "replace the alen head screws".
what doers this mean?is it a mod? im not a tech and therefor replacing mags and screws aint my thing.
can any one clear this out for me on the "replace the alen head screws"??

on your pup there is a row of slot head screws and a row of allen head screws. the allen head screws have more iron content (i think??) but what you end up with is a brighter more focused tone than if you had a typical row of slugs.

some people replace the pole pieces with other styles of screws

Yes it is a mod and a very easy one. All you do is take out the screws with the holes in them (these are the allen head screws) and put in standard humbucker screws. You can't really mess it up as long as you buy humbucker screws.

Apparently this mod is supposed to tame the highs a little bit. If you like the highs in the pickup, don't do anything to it.

well im sure as hell not replacing em .if i have a more focused tone as it is stock,then why take it away? .
my les paul has a very inherited dark sound already its gonna need that bright tone of the pickup.

actualy theres 2 questions now,one if the trembucker spaced tb-12 will fit my Les apul.the other is between the duncan tb-12 and the dimarzio(also scooped mids) steve´s special for a LP what would be a better choice?
theyu are both used and for half the original price.

Yes it will fit. Trem spaced pups are not any bigger than standard spaced pups.

I prefer trem spaced pups on Gibson TOM bridges as well.

hey mike i see you use the sreamin demon for the neck of yur 2005 BC Rich NJ Classic Mockingbird.how does it go against the cc both in the bridge? would it be good in the neck of a LP?

The DEMON is the best bridge humbucker if you want balanced EQ of tight punchy lows and low mids , natural high mids , just enough highs to make it scream with harmonics .
And this p-u is so responsive that you can play fast as hell and here all the notes .
It's all there for a good guitar , good guitarist and good amp .

a fair and great argument there man,i just wanna know what ill be missing not going with the cc that mike has along with the demon in the neck(why not bridge?).
im also debating as to putting a nickel seth neck to match it or a jazz nickel.
the store only has nickel versions.

Not sure. The mockingbird is a 24 fret, so the neck pup is closer to the bridge than an LP neck pup. It's a bit bright, but that might work in your favor in an LP. I also don't think the Demon is as "vocal" as most other neck pickups, but I am unsure as to whether that is because of the pickup or the location. Even the stock BC Rich pup was a little lacking in that respect.

If swapping pickups wasn't such a chore, I'd love to play around with the Demon in my LP, both in the bridge and in the neck.

I tried the Demon in and must admit it is not satsfying : too hot ( lost of definition ) too much lows and low mids ( muddy low end under gain ) and not bright enough in neck .
But the Jazz neck is actually like a demon in bridge they match perfectly in ouput and philosophy : shred monsters .

I tried the Demon in NECK and must admit it is not satsfying : too hot ( lost of definition ) too much lows and low mids ( muddy low end under gain ) and not bright enough in neck .
But the Jazz neck is actually like a demon in bridge they match perfectly in ouput and philosophy : shred monsters .

thought so too,im going for the jazz cause there both alnico v. :beerchug:

i hated the 59 in a light bodied washbun.
wonder if it could sound cool in a LP neck like everybody else here likes em. fftopic:

my friend told me the dimarzio he has is not a steve´s special but a paf pro.
a little help pleaseee,jazz or paf pro neck tro compliment the demon bridge?

sorry for the dum ass questions regarding dimarzio´s.the paf pro goes out as my tech told me they are boomy in a LP(neck).
gonna get me the demon and jazz nickel
is there anyway i can take out the nickel cover if i want too without damaging the jazz?

What if I change one row of screws in my Full-Shred? Would it sound more Demon-like?

Interesting… my Demon is overly bright in the neck, but I think that has as much to do with the maple neck-through as it does the pickup. I will agree, though, that it is a bit hot (for my liking at least) for a neck pickup. Output wise, it matches up well in the neck with a medium high to high output pup in the bridge, but in my opinion it’s got a little too growl for the neck. I’m very tempted to move some pickups around and see how the Demon might sound in the neck of a Les Paul.

im afraid of the demon being to pearcing in the les paul,
a friend has one in an epi pl as well(lighter and not as bass heavy body as mine) he says the tone is definitely not PAF like but gives him a very meaty heavy metal sound.

ive also downloaded the dokken live in japan 1995 and lynch uses his esp signiture,demon with a hotrails neck.the sound is compressed and focused under heavy gain,not PAF but not thin either.
IHMO one of the best lead solo tones ive heard,coming from dual recto´s and classic 50 heads.
