if the jazz is a 42awg pickup(?) that'd make for a pretty interesting neck pickup. you mean a jazz neck or bridge?

Lew yeah a Custom in the neck of any guitar would be too thick and wooly I would think. Especially so in a Monaco if it is a mahogany guitar which I am betting it is since most Hamers are. The Duncan Distortion neck model is actually very useable for clean and it is very powerful. Same thing can be said for Gibson's 496R which is a ceramic magnet and I like it a lot.

Duncan Distortion has an amazing sound.
It sounds really good in booth ways clean and distorted.
Before him I used JB in bridge position, but I aways felt a lack of bass tones.
DD has almost same hight tones with very good bass.
It has great definition and output it is a really versatile pickup.
Probably I'll go with it forever, at least for a long time
I'm gonna purchase the SD to be used in neck and will let you all know about this combination.

Dont mean to hi-jack your thread Ivo, but just a quick question:
Which direction do you have the SD in the neck? Like do you have the allen key screws facing the neck or the flathead screws? Does it affect the tone?

This ... just because aesthetically I like the SD logo facing the bridge :34: It sounds amazing.
I already like it that way. Never tried the opposite position so I have no idea how it affects the tone.
