SD Classic Stacks & Custom Stack...

Well, they are in the guitar... wired without the split option.

I have to say - I am very impressed. They are an improvement over the Highway 1 stock pickups in almost every aspect. Mainly - they sound more Straty... stack or no stack - the notch positions are incredible, period.
I'm a believer. :D

They are very open sounding and much more resonant. I think that Frank said that they stay very open sounding even with high gain - I couldn't agree more... to my years they seem to stay clean even under higher gain setting. The Custom Stack Plus is also very open and resonant, even when you use it with gain.

Going to rehearsal today - I believe I'll have more to add after I'll try the pickups in the mix with other instruments.

BTW,
I'm usually not an early adopter, so I'm pretty proud to be one of the earlier buyers of the Custom Stack Plus. :bling:

That's great. Where do you have the Custom Stack? I was thinking about putting it in the neck of my Strat build

Re: SD Classic Stacks & Custom Stack...

I've had a Classic Stack Plus in the middle of my Tele Nashville for several months. Love it. I ordered a matching one for the neck position, but it came in black, so it's going back for a white one. For the time being, I have a gaping candy apple red hole in the neck position.

I have the Hot Stack Plus in the bridge of one of my strats.

Its a great sounding pickup.

Frank says the new stacks are pretty darn close to their single coil counterparts in sound.

I will take his word for it.

Id like to try a Custom Stack Plus. Tell us More.

I have the Classic Stack Plus in the neck and middle of my American Standard Strat. Definitely the best noiseless singles I've played. They have that vintage Strat tone down. Really pleased with them myself.

Well, I've tested them in a rehearsal and now I love them even more.

The Custom Stack is very transparent and open sounding and it kicks ass when you use it with a wah pedal... it just sings.

I find it hard to get over the fact that they are so much better than the stock pickups. I'm getting the feeling that when Fender puts the word "upgrade" in the name of a model they mean that you need to upgrade the guitar yourself...

EEF13 - I use it in the bridge. There was a recent thread about the SSL5 in the neck... might give you a better prediction than mine about how its noiseless brother will preform in the neck.
It's not a very hot pickup but it is a little boomy, it's good to have this punch in the bridge - not so sure about the neck.
