SD Polaron - boosting the low end?

Although I'm a bass player, I'm heavy into stomp boxes. Finding the right phaser for my needs got a bit difficult as I always go for the right-in-yo-face effect, not the subtle one. In my usage pattern, an effect is an effect. Now, most phasers come too subtle for my taste. I've been switching boxes repeatedly.

Enter stage: the SD Polaron. Well, this one can be totally up front. It has many far out options. Fun!

But, I found it to boost the low end considerably. Which makes things difficult for me. Not only do I (intentionally) make some funny noises, but I'm boosting my whole low end which isn't that much favorable for our well calibrated band sound.

Questions:
Others experiencing this too, when using the Polaron for bass guitar?
Is there maybe an internal setting I can tweak?

Most phasers would boost the low end as it sweeps that part of the frequency range. I don't see any internal settings in the manual, so I'd guess there aren't any. For bass, I might consider splitting the signal and running a high pass filter before the phaser and mixing that sound back in. This is easier in the studio than live. If you have an EQ pedal, you might try that in series with the phaser.
