SDUG ULTIMATE AXE - CAtegory 4; Pointies

Re: SDUG ULTIMATE AXE - CAtegory 4; Pointies

CTN, great looking guitar, and well on it's way to being a contender, in the next pointy guitar poll, I would say. With no disrespect intended in any way. :headbang:

That build has me itching to get an old friend out of storage and maybe a lil rehab. That one will be a contender next go around. :fing2:

My heavily modified Gibson '67 Reissue Flying V. Not so pointy, but still.

This one's going to be a Heavy Contender. I am already deciding between this and Zerb's.

I posted that Star to show to CTN.

It is not my entry for this poll. Maybe I will take it off if it is confusing any one.

Hi guys, new here but got linked to this thread from the Seymour Duncan page and felt I had to contribute. (Lovely axes by the way everyone!)

Anyway, here are my two pointy babies, ESP LTD Michael Amott Ninja 600s. Pretty damn rare, hence why I thought you'd like them, and to my eyes the best looking V ever designed. Just need to get the one with the mirro scratchplate now...

In terms of specs, both have a mahogany body and neck with quilt maple top and matching headstock, and ebony fretboard with ninja star inlays. Pickups are Seymour Duncan JB + 59. The black model is a set neck with 22 frets, the red a neck-through with 24 frets. They would have retailed for about £1200 new, picked up the black one back in 2009 for £600 as they were discontinued that year, picked up the red one last summer for £400. Enjoy:

The Warlock is an NJ series and is the only guitar that is still "stock." The red Westone Elektra has all rail pickups installed with the neck and bridge in Triple Shots and a custom circuit featuring three push/pull pots, and is named "Cap'n Spandex". The Flying V is a Samick Greg Bennett model with a PAF Pro in the neck and a Super Distortion in the bridge in a Peter Green configuration with a phase switch and a series/parallel push/pull for the bridge pickup. The bass with the eye in a Dean Hollywood Z I installed and EMG PJ set in having to do some woodwork to the control rout which is now covered by a piece from a Laserdisc of "Stripes" and it was already set-up for BEAD tuning! Lastly is my Warmoth 8-string build that stands 4 feet tall from tip to tail...there's more work to be done on it, but it is in a playable state for now. I have videos of the Flying V and Dean Z being put through some paces.
