set neck vs bolt-in neck

Re: set neck vs bolt-in neck

Too many cork-sniffers out there sometimes when it comes to guitar. Some believe that if its not neck-thru or at least set-neck the sustain will be terrible. You hear lots of this on the net on forum, I think most of these people are either trolling or just jump on the bandwagon and have no idea what they are talking about. The best argument against all that is Mr. Corksniffer himself Eric Johnson plays a bolt on Strat, enough said huh? ;)

Re: set neck vs bolt-in neck

I find the whole argument laughable, at best. The whole "tone" thing really goes to extremes sometimes...
I remember reading on another board a guy made a bunch of clips and asked the people to pick out which recording sounded the best. Little did the members know - most of whom picked this certain recording, BTW - that the "best" sounding recording to them was a Tele (IIRC) made out of particle board.
