Good question and one that I would like to know as well. I was just listening to the sound clips from the WCR site and they all sound incredible. Tattooed Carrot had a set of Fillmores, hopefully he'll chime in with some insite.

I've only heard the "Crossroads" sound sample, so it's hard to say without playing them live. My money is on the Seths. I've got them in my LP/SG reissue and they nail that Cream-era Clapton tone to a tee. Also, Seths are cheaper. Lew like '59's for that tone. Either one will work.

I agree. Part of the problem with these boutique vintage pups is that they become the "flavor of the month". If you go over to the Les Paul Forum, they go nuts over a new "PAF clone" every few weeks....It's the Timbuckers, Holmes, Voodoo, WRC. etc. They all sound good, but different. I still think that the Duncan Antiquity comes closest to a real PAF. As for the "Crossroads" pup, that is probably more like a '59 or Seth. Clapton;s pups were patent # and we've all agreed, probably had alnico-5 magnets in them, like the '59. However, the Seth gives more warmth and midrange like Clapton got when he was using the SG (Wheels of Fire live tracks from the Winterland in 1968). However, having said that, I've heard bootlegs of Clapton using the same SG at the Fillmore, Detroit, and a few other venues, where his tone is brighter (like an alnico-5 '59).
