Re: Seymour Duncan be trollin hard

The only discussion I can think of is all those with prospective buyers and their bank managers trying to get a second mortgage - so they can afford a pickup made out of silver.

Re: Seymour Duncan be trollin hard

$1200 per set! Ouch. But I'd get a set if I could. :14:

Re: Seymour Duncan be trollin hard

I have always wondered why they didn't try making pickups with cryogenic treated alloys for the poles and oxygen free copper for the coils?

Re: Seymour Duncan be trollin hard

Damn. And I thought pu's were a cheap guitar uograde. Would there realty be that much difference in tone to justify 10 times the price ?

I think it is more of a technology demonstration and publicity vehicle for NAMM than a viable product. Everyone likes to roll out something spectacular for trade shows.

Actually, it's more of a joke. They say silver has a higher melting point than copper, but copper actually has a melting point 2X as high.

Also, this:
Cryogenic Treatment of Pickup after final assembly
permanently aligns crystal lattice of all materials

Cryogenic treatment is pretty ridiculous, but crystal lattice is just a giant Dumble joke :lmao:

Re: Seymour Duncan be trollin hard

I can't wait for someone to buy these and drop them in Indonesian piece of plywood.

Re: Seymour Duncan be trollin hard

I just checked them out on the home page. Everything about the tone I read sounded awesome............ then i saw the price!

Re: Seymour Duncan be trollin hard

If it was a joke they need to let the readers swallow it deeper. It becomes funnier when the pseudo-scientists get a hold of it.

Re: Seymour Duncan be trollin hard

I think Seymour has been spending a bit too much time with Eric Johnson, and his good friend Mary Jane.

Re: Seymour Duncan be trollin hard

What is really sad is Blueman would change the magnets in there.

Re: Seymour Duncan be trollin hard

Maybe they are all that, but there are still too many great production models I haven't tried. I could buy a lot of them for twelve bills.

Re: Seymour Duncan be trollin hard

I was gettin' all excited to order a Zephyr-ized P-Rails set...then I went limp when I saw the price tag. Sort of like the time I thought I was getting lucky at a Vegas bar when the hot chick kept letting me buy her drinks. She wanted over a grand, too.
