seymour duncan livewire bridge

Re: seymour duncan livewire bridge

Hello and HNY!

Ended up ordering a EMG 81/85 to replace the old livewires. Just wish me good luck with the EMGs, I haven't soldered anything in years! I wish it turns out to be much better for clean tones.

I will update with any comments I might have.

I really regret not being able to give the (old or newer) livewires a chance.

Re: seymour duncan livewire bridge

that one is the later live wire II (2). it will be out of phase with a livewire 1, uses 25k pots and 9v.

This one is a livewire classic: http://www.ebay.com/itm/SEYMOUR-DUN...ec67021&pid=100005&rk=1&rkt=6&sd=282252803691

See the blue band on the lead. The live wire metal had a black band, the classic had a yellow for the neck and a blue for the bridge. I might have one somewhere if that guy doesn't ship.

Hey, hi again.
does anyone know if there was an original metal neck pup? Or the metal version was for bridge only? My original set has no color bands in neither pup. I'll check if it has black bands.

Re: seymour duncan livewire bridge

There was never a metal version for the neck, just the regular classic version.

A metal neck would have overdriven everything.

The bands were just colored heat shrink, very small and pretty easy to remove. There may be a a label sticker on the bottom of the pickup too.

Re: seymour duncan livewire bridge

Thank you! Just got home. The old bridge has a black band as you suggested. But the old neck, writes NECK on a white label, but has a blue band. The first pup that I ordered has arrived, although not expected, and also has a blue band. So now I got the original bridge (black), the original neck (blue) and the new blue, no yellow band pup at my disposal.

Just tested the new (blue band) pup outside the guitar by knocking with a screwdriver, alongside the old (black band) bridge metal and the old (blue band) neck. The new reacted exactly like the old neck. Are you sure you didn't mess blue for yellow ? So that yellow was the normal bridge and blue the neck?

bump :

guys really : does anyone know of the original livewire bridge normal (non-metal) had a yellow or a blue band? My old neck has blue. So I guess I got two neck livewire pups (blue) now?

Should I just try with the old original neck (blue-band) in the neck and the new blue-band in the bridge?

Re: seymour duncan livewire bridge

So guys, really, anyone with the original (circa 1991) 18V livewire non-metal bridge? Had this a blue or a yellow band?
