Re: Seymours 59's on a Strat
I sold a 1969 Strat to a friend and got to buy it back some twenty years later. It had been modified, and had a 59 neck pickup in the bridge (good idea i thought, to help it match with the single-coils). it sounded good and worked well, but i prefer to have Strats in their traditional from, so i restored the guitar and it reverted back to three single-coil pickups.
But the 59 neck in the bridge sounded good and would have allowed the guitar to cover more territory, although probably not metal styles. It was quite mellow and blended well with the single coils so that all the available sounds were 'cohesive' and it sounded like one guitar, no radical change when switching to the bridge-only position.
