SFX-05 Lava Box

Re: SFX-05 Lava Box

Well the MOSFET is not going to be of much use if the FD is as flat as it usually is, in its various forms.
It is filtered like a TS pedal, MOSFET or not, the filtering is going to be on the dull side.

I agree with you. Even on MOSFET and Flat mids mode, it still sounds boxy and compressed.

Enjoying a BB preamp so much more now. Still saving for a AC-tone.

Re: SFX-05 Lava Box

That's how I feel about mine and that's why it's goin on the 'bay very soon...

That Lava Box might not be for me, I got an OCD and use it alot, but other than that, I think I'll be staying away from many more effects (disortions mostly) for a while.

Re: SFX-05 Lava Box

I've been done buying overdrive/distortion pedals for quite awhile now and hopefully for a good long time? The Plexitone was the last pedal like this that I bought and still love! Stuff just keeps coming out,but I feel as long as I'm inspired to play, than my tone is good...Hard to keep up with all of the stuff that keeps coming out anymore! The SFX-01 was the only Duncan pedal I bought so far?

Re: SFX-05 Lava Box

i actually won my sfx1 in montreal so ive never bought a duncan pedal but i got to try the lava box before it had that name and it was great. very dynamic, it reacts like an amp, pick hard it barks at ya, pick lightly and it purrs

Re: SFX-05 Lava Box

Concerning... SFX-04 nicknamed "Single State"
after the twin tube, this would have been the opposite effect turning your 3000$ tube amp into a cheap solid state practice amp by taking off 80% signal strength, flattening the eq and adding high frequency hiss. Unfortunately there were no dealer orders on it so they dicontinued it.
:laugh2:
