sh-11 in a sheraton?

hi, i have an epiphone sheraton semi-hollow body with a screaming demon in the bridge, and it sounds awful, too much top end and not enough gain for my taste, i was thinkin about putting a sh-2 in the neck and if putting a cc in it would be a good idea? please advise, cheers

Hmmm... never really thought of a Sheraton for high-gain, although the Foo Fighters use 335s a lot. Don't get a really high-output pup for it, you'll ruin the natural lurrvly tone of the guitar (IMO).

ye, i know what you mean, i want something that will keep the natural nice tone, but just a little bit more gain, any suggestions?

What's your amp setup? It concerns me a little that your first impulse in looking for more gain is to swap the pickup.

If you have a modern, high gain amp, I would go with a pickup with less output and more tone. Something like a Seth Lover or a Pearly Gates sound great in a semi-hollow and they both do great hard rock and metal tones. If you have an older amp that needs a kick in the pre amp section to get driven, the Custom custom will work beautifully. It has a lot of mids, with a slightly rolled back top and bottom.

IMO, the Demon sounds awful because if those hex screws. If you change them to the normal slotheaded screws you will notice an increase in mids, and lose that shrill top-end the Demon can tend to have. You will not get an increase in output though. I encourage everyone to try it before they ditch that pickup.

i have a marshall valvestate, not the best of marshalls but it'll do! lol i have a fender strat with a duncan distortion in the bridge, and it sounds amazing, and the demon doesn't even compare to the sound, i've tried it in a few other guitars, (sg, lp) and it sounds very weak and "top end-y" in every axe its been in! i was thinkin about gettin a seth lover, but i didn't think the out put would be high enough for what i play, cheers for your suggesetions, its all a matter of trial and error in the end!
