SH-13 Dimebucker / Ibanez Prestige RG1421 Help

Re: SH-13 Dimebucker / Ibanez Prestige RG1421 Help

So with a better understanding of the switching positions involved, my question that remains is: What are my options in wiring in the dimebucker in place of that 2-conductor bridge pickup shown in my diagram? I know there are different ways to wire it in but what is best for my switching setup?

I suppose without knowing that I could just wire it in different ways and see what sounds the best....I'm just looking for a few examples to start with at least.

Re: SH-13 Dimebucker / Ibanez Prestige RG1421 Help

I would wire it to run the bridge in series on 1.
Run bridge in parallel on 2.
position 3. could run both the inside coils.
position 4. could run both outside coils
position 5. would run the neck in series.

Wouldnt I need a standard 5 position switch to do this? I found a diagram for the switch i have that switches like this:

position 1 Neck Series
position 2 Neck Parallel
position 3 Neck and Bridge
position 4 Inside 2 coils
position 5 Bridge

Ive been playing a lot of gain using the bridge pickup and I like getting cleans my mixing the bridge and neck coils. I dont really use just the neck pickup itself, but then again i dont have any experience in wiring these things. I really am unsure how i want to wire this. I didnt anticipate this many options. I assumed I could just wire the new on in place of the old pickup. I really dont want to mess with the neck pickup wiring if I dont have to. but if there's a significant gain Ill consider it.

Re: SH-13 Dimebucker / Ibanez Prestige RG1421 Help

Sorry I took so long to get around to looking inside my RG. I wrenched my back pretty bad and wasn't up for doing much of anything.

So anyway, like I said before, I have a Dimebucker & a Pearly Gates Neck in my RG. I put the Red & White wires together for both pickups, and from left to right with the guitar flipped over and looking in the control cavity, the wires are installed on the switch as follows: black bridge, red & white neck, black neck, volume pot, red & white bridge, empty, empty, ground.

This gives me the following configurations with the switch starting all the way to the right as it would be when you're playing it: bridge full, bridge inner coil & neck outer coil, bridge full & neck full, neck outer coil, neck full.

Re: SH-13 Dimebucker / Ibanez Prestige RG1421 Help

This is the diagram I made for my guitar, the RG1421F. As far as i know this doesnt exist anywhere on the web. I took my drawings and put them into the actual drawing template. I used ground symbols to make tracing signal paths easier. This is the guitar setup from the factory with no mods (meaning if you were to buy this guitar new and crack the cover open, this is what you'd see). For everyone looking for this: enjoy!!

I know this is a very old thread, but I saw your wiring diagram from your RG1421F and was wondering what the pickup configurations were at each position on your selector.
Or if anybody else reading this can tell by looking at the diagram, please let me know.
Thank you
