It really depends on your tastes but yes I would think it would work. I have a Jazz/Dimebucker combo that works great especially in the middle position. Lots of guitar players match a hot bridge with a mellow neck pickup. I think your combo will work better than my Jazz/Dimebucker combo.
Jazz has more clarity that the 490R with the stock mag. I have swapped a short A5 into a 490R in a couple of different guitars and liked it, but who knows if that will be enough for your rig. Its a worthwhile first step if you want a cheaper option.
I have it in one of my SG's that exact combo. Honestly it made no difference. Im sure there's a difference if I were to take a meter to it but definitely not to my ears. Maybe my dogs ears

Although I will say the 490r sounded a little more aggressive. Not any less clear or anything. But I did have to roll back the volume a bit om the guitar to calm it down and bring its warmer side out. The jazz is just always warm at full volume which I guess can be worth the money if you feel it is
Jazz certainly has more clarity, and sounds more 'hi-fi' to me...strong attack, not a lot of mids, solid bass. I think it would certainly be an improvement.
