Hello everyone,

so, today i was playing guitar, and i have some of my guitars hanging on the wall, one of them with a sh13 dimebucker.. i started looking at the pickup and i realise that the dimebag signature was on the wrong direction.. can someone tell me why is that? DSC_0148.jpg

Re: SH13 inverted logo (?)

Most likely it was a mistake at the factory. Aside from cosmetics, it should have no detrimental effect on the sound, and sadly there's really no way to take it apart and correct it. I would imagine that they would replace it for you though, since it was obviously their mistake and really shouldn't have made it out the door.

thanks for the help. i'll go to the store that i bought it from to see if theres anything that they can do. probably im not lucky, cause i have it almost 1 years but just today i looked at it and couldn't read the 'signature'

Re: SH13 inverted logo (?)

I'd remove "Seymour Duncan" and rotate the pickup 180 degrees.

that is a good ideia, at least for a 'different' look, but dont know if the pickup would work the same way because of the polarity (i think i heard something about that or maybe i was just dreaming)

Re: SH13 inverted logo (?)

I'm not so sure about that.
Well if they simply loaded the bobbin wrong but wound it the way it should have been then yeah, but aside from that, if they didnt, then it would be noticeable, wouldnt you think? Im bettingnit was made on the friday before thanksgiving, or Monday morning after the SuperBowl.

Well every time I play lefty I notice different and unique tonal nuances in the strings that are simply not obtainable with the standard right-hand sets.
That inverted sig is spinning an evil web of negative vibes lol.

Yeah it was probably on the line right after the guys returned from "lunch" break. (cough cough cough)

Honestly I'd not mind it all all since it's a unique "error".

Re: SH13 inverted logo (?)

I got ya there, but with a blade pickup its the same either way. Its still the inner coil, its just out 180, but probably wound like it should have been.
Edit: actually all that was needed was half of a wind snipped off.

Edit again:
Let me rephrase that, its visually out 180, thats all.

so, having the pickup the 'right' way (like i have at the moment) or having it 180, doesn't do any major difference in this type of pickups?

Re: SH13 inverted logo (?)

That's kind of wild. It's actually a printing error, the sig is in the right location but rotated 180 degrees. (It's not like the bobbin was printed correctly and just rotated at assembly)

It definitely would not have anything to do with magnetic polarity. I would be very surprised to find out that the coils are anything but symmetrically wound since the pickup would likely have been in breach of DiMarzio's patent. Same number of turns, but different pattern, perhaps, but I doubt it. I would be skeptical about any claims of sonic differences due to rotation that weren't backed up with objective evidence derived from controlled testing.

I think the pickup would look slick if the brand was removed and the pickup was rotated, but I doubt I would bother with it if it were mine.

i just won't do that cause my skills are low to do a job like that and probably would ruin the pickup. but i was looking for a sh-1 for the neck and the brand logo's facing eachother (180, as u said before), i think it would look good as hell (i hope).

Re: SH13 inverted logo (?)

I remember reading a pretty good discussion on how to remove the printing. It didn't seem very hard.

If I recall correctly, the SH-1 doesn't say Seymour Duncan.

Re: SH13 inverted logo (?)

I've used Brasso to remove the printing, but it is unique, so I would probably keep it. Just tell your friends it is a super-secret custom version.

Re: SH13 inverted logo (?)

Unless it's something that really annoys you... keep it! I removed the old Wilkinson logo from my pickups to reuse the cover over my brand-new SD. I did it using a nylon pickup underneath.
