so lately i been doing a lot of changes in my two strats with a bunch of things that i have flouting a round and the new things i´ve gotten.

well... the thing is... i have a new stratocaster pickguard and i want to put it in some other strat that is wired and everything... the new pickguard doesnt have shielding (or the piece of foil that the other one has in the back) i went to the hardware store and look for aluminum tape but they didnt have any.

is this really necesary??
is there any other alternative??

I buy the copper foil tape from: http://www.stewmac.com/

An inexpensive and very satisfactory alternative is to use regular kitchen type aluminum foil and apply it with spray adhesive to the back of the pickguard.

You should really have it, actually I'd give the whole cavity the treatment.

As mentioned, thinnest kitchen foil is fine shielding-wise. However, it easily gets scratched up when working around it.

Re: shielding a stratocaster pickguard

I've used the heavy duty Reynolds foil and 3M spray adhesive with great results, both in the cavity and the back of the pickguard. Since my Strat has the pool route, it was easy to form the foil in to one big piece, spray it in form, then drop it in place.

I do the same thing. You also need a little overlap where the pickguard meets the body cavity to completely ground the circuit.
