Shimmer Pedal Suggestions

Re: Shimmer Pedal Suggestions

I'm sorry…I guess you couldn't just run dry out to amp and the wet verb to an octave pedal. My bad. Yeah….Shimmer pedal, what was I thinking. Besides, Strymons kids need new Porsche's.

The one's I'm looking at have the option of turning the shimmer on or off. So they're a dedicated reverb pedal with a shimmer option. Being that right now I just have my amps reverb.....

Yes I have a chorus and delay, but the option to keep settings as is and using another pedal to give off that effect is more ideal.

@Ace. Digging the Floyd Facepalm. Does anyone have a Fall Facepalm meme?

Re: Shimmer Pedal Suggestions

B2D mentioned Line 6. The Octo setting on the Verbzilla is another option. Not too expensive used now.

Re: Shimmer Pedal Suggestions

Didn't know that the Neunaber can be changed to any of their pedal line. That takes TC tone print to a whole nother level. I do like the fact that the Seraphim has a by pass (reverb only to shimmer effect) and now the fact I can swap out the pedal to a different line all together. Hm,mm. Still pricey but a lil more justified.

Heads up, if you don't already know.... Only the Neunaber "Stereo" Pedals are updatable and can be changed to any other pedal. Having said that, don't buy a Mono Neunaber Pedal if you want it to be updatable because they aren't updatable.

I've got the Mr Black Eterna Gold Modified, and it's really fantastic for shimmer. It does the ethereal thing really well, and you can turn the shimmer knob all the way down for a more standard, hall reverb sound.

We also have a Digitech Polara in at my shop, and the Halo setting is really nice shimmer. All the sounds in it are from the Lexicon studio units. It's a good choice if you want some options in your reverb, but if you want the most shimmery shimmer, go Mr Black.

I decided on Neunaber Seraphim. Although the latest Neunaber pedal "Immerse" released at Namm looks enticing, but won't be ready until 3/1/16. The Seraphim is a dual pedal which offers "wet" and "shimmer" modes.

I like that it's switchable. The Wet mode is killer. ;)

Agreed. I checked out a lot of pedals that offer shimmer mode, this one was the most organic and natural sounding. The switchable wet mode was what sold me on it.

I almost preordered their immerse pedal but wanted a pedal now, ha.

Very underrated company.

It's pretty convenient to have the effect in a pedal with one button to switch it on or off.

In my home studio, I do what you describe. Record a dry signal, but split it off first and also record the guitar going through my Morpheus Capo pedal set to an octave up (I should experiment setting it to with a fifth up sometime), a lush chorus, and then the stereo output gets put through an Eventide reverb plugin.

Re: Shimmer Pedal Suggestions

I hadn't heard of the Seraphim Shimmer pedal until a couple of weeks ago. I plugged in out of curiosity. It sounds pretty nice. I'd really rather have a stereo output though. I got a used Digitech Supernatural instead.
I also have a Walrus Audio Descent reverb. That one gives you the option of using it just as a reverb, but lets you add in octave up or down effects. It has stereo outs too.
The spacey stuff is at about 13:00 in this demo.

They do offer a stereo version for $230. The stereo version comes with USB and pedal customization. Being that I don't use stereo nor have any use for the customization option, I decided to save myself the extra $50 expense without sacrificing the awesome wet and shimmer option.
