Well, that's the question... I have my eyes on a Classic 50's two tone sunburst, used for a good price.

Do I need it? Yes.

Do I want it? Yes.

Do I have the funds? Not really :D

American Vintage 57' Stratocaster

My friend had one for sale. The V neck is real cool! Sounds like a dream. I'm still getting used to single coils but I can appreciate the vintage sounds of it. This is the one you should get and keep it stock! Don't change a thing!

I'd have to personally say "no", that is, unless you like the 50's style neck, small fretwire and a 7.25" radius.

Nothing wrong with those things but they aren't to my liking and I'd go for something with a more modern neck, but thats just what feels best to me.

I'd suggest a classic Player 60's as its got a C shape neck, jumbo frets and a 12" radius. But again, thats just me....

Go for it - it's a beaut and nicely put together. Mine is in blue. Watch out though for the very narrow 7.25" radius (as already advised here). Big bends choke - trust me!

That's funny - I was actually pondering selling my American Standard and replacing it with something more 50's-like. I'm currently liking the idea of a 50's Strat with modern pickups and electronics in it. I recently played a friend's MIJ '57 reissue and got hooked. I liked everything about it, especially the neck shape.

Classic Player 50's has all the vintage vibe with modern playability. I own one and am very happy with it.

Re: Should I buy a 50's Classic Strat?

Thanks for your thoughts guys!

I wouldn't mind the radius and frets... I guess most of you know me as a vintage guitar digger here and I want a Strat that's 50's correct two tone sunburst.

Anyway, the time wasn't right as I the postman brought me an unexpected bill that destroyed my guitar buying plans this time.

So the Stratocaster quest have to be on ice for a while now... too bad ;)

I'd go japanese 57 or 62 strat over the classic strats but either are nice.
