Should I buy a Tweaker?

Thinking about selling my Peavey Classic 30 and buying an Egnater Tweaker.

Should I keep the Peavey or sell it and get the Tweaker?

Re: Should I buy a Tweaker?

What specifically are you looking for the tweaker to do that the classic 30 won't?

You'll give up a lil volume and some headroom, and some dynamics may be lost because of how touch sensitive EL84s are.

What you'll gain are a wider range of amp voicings, more breakup and warmth at lower volumes. So it's really going to come down to "do you need the headroom of 30W?" and also "do you like the tweaker's voicings?"

or like

which one you like better

or which one looks cooler

really you're gona sound like a dude playing guitar either way

Re: Should I buy a Tweaker?

I owned a Classic 50. I've never owned or played a Classic 30. I also owned a Tweaker. For me, there was NO comparison. I was able to get so many great and different tones out of the Tweaker. I wasn't able to get any "great" tones out of the Classic (to my ears). It was a very dark, ho-hum amp. The Tweaker's got American blackface tones, American semi-scooped tones, British chime, and British roar. For my taste, the Tweaker was a far superior amp. But that's me...

Re: Should I buy a Tweaker?

As I've never played a Peavey C30, I'm not 100% sure that the tweaker is right for you. But I do know that the tweaker is just plain b1tchin, especially at that price point.

Re: Should I buy a Tweaker?

Basically Im looking for some decent overdriven sounds at a reasonable level for playing at home.

Re: Should I buy a Tweaker?

both, it's the only answer. more gear. more more more more more (delay on last "more" as in Billy Idol's Rebel Yell)

Re: Should I buy a Tweaker?

Got the Tweaker. It rocks. Nuff said. Playing it through an Avatar 1x12 with warehouse veteran 30.

Thanks for the support. Great little amp.

Cool! I love the tweaker! I also have a classic 30 and I changed tubes and speaker and improved it alot, but it still doesnt have the amount of tones and gain the tweaker does..

Re: Should I buy a Tweaker?

I miss the articulation of the Peavey but found the dirt channel useless.
It was also way too loud for my house.

Re: Should I buy a Tweaker?

Yeah, the cleans are beautiful.. I use it for my accoustic mostly. The gain channel was classic rock at best. I get more gain with the mods, but still doesnt crunch like a tweaker. I got a pretty cool brown tone from the tweaker too..
