Shout out to Seymour and MJ...

I was lucky enough to be at the Dallas International Guitar Festival last weekend, and got to meet and chat with Seymour and Maricela, who couldn't have been any nicer or more generous with their time. Completely geeked out watching them wind pickups right there on the floor. Really appreciated getting to talk music and pickups with them. Great folks.

Were you amazed by how quickly they could wind them and how something that's so essential to the guitar's sound was easily made by them? XD Just curious, what pickups were they winding?

I find it interesting how they can have a conversation and still wind at the same time. Really remarkable to watch!

After 20+ years of driving, I suppose you can hold a drink, be talking on the cell (hands free of course) and changing the radio tunes at the same time.

They were making single-coils, but I didn't ask which ones in particular. I was mostly surprised that they were doing it at all in the middle of a busy floor, it did not surprise me that a couple of masters of an art could do what they do quickly.

The best thing was just getting to thank them for their work. I recently bought a Custom '78, and a pair of Seths (for two different guitars). Getting to talk about them for a bit with the people who'd created them was a total blast.

Both Seymour and Maricela are the greatest. I had the honor of spending time with both of them at the factory. What a blast.
