haha, a JM is 25.5, yes... Probably the "weirdest" sounding of the "other" Fenders, but probably the most popular amongst those not normally inclined...

Re: Show me some Jaguars, Jazzmasters, Mustangs

ok gasometer is reaching critical stage now. Dangly, what would you reckon to me buying a MIJ Jaguarvand dropping Kurtis Novak original Jag pickups in it? Would you recomend a bridge change? where would i find a good replacement?

haha, novaks, duncans, Fender AVs... all an improvement, all sound about the same to most ears, all will work fine.

The MIJ/CIJ Fenders in general are great axes, the trem falls a little short of AV/vintage models in being not so smooth in upbends, and the bar is a little prone to falling out, but they're still useable and if you're a trem user and want a bit better operation, you can always upgrade.

As for the bridge, I recommend nothing more than a careful setup, as long as the saddles and posts are set properly (and with them, the nut well cut and the neck properly shimmed), you'll have plenty string tension and no buzz whatsoever...

A Mustang bridge will work, but occasionally the strings will contact/buzz with the back of the bridgeplate and you sacrifice some adjustability (plus allparts bridges are crap because of the saddle spacing, if you HAVE to have a Mustang bridge then get a real Fender one).

A TOM... just don't think about it :laugh2:

Re: Show me some Jaguars, Jazzmasters, Mustangs

that one's actually too classy for my tastes! i like Jags, Jazzs and 'Stangs on the condition that they are painted in some hideous colour that no - one would consider painting anything.

Re: Show me some Jaguars, Jazzmasters, Mustangs

I can feel the GAS coming...

CAR Jaguar shape... Strat electronics. Rosewood board, headstock in between 50s and 70s shape. A couple of fun switches. 22 frets, a 9.5'' board radius... and no clue about the bridge yet. Strat hardtail most likely...

I like the Novak pickups alot more useable dirty then stock! And of course the clean is chimey and bell like.
