Show me your guitar hangers!

Aceman

I am your doctor of love!
How do you hang a crap ton of guitars on the wall?

Flat mount hangers?
Guitar store style rack?

How do you put your toys on the wall???

Re: Show me your guitar hangers!

Mine hang out just like those
But I got the fretrest version at GC when they were 2 for $10

But yeah they hang around the room about 2 foot apart

One per wall stud

18 inches down from ceiling

Hercules hangers all the way! Screwed into the studs and they're nitro safe. Plus they actually hold Tele headstocks properly and not resting on the low E tuning peg.

Re: Show me your guitar hangers!

I drilled some directly into the studs. i thought it would be stronger that way. I need some little covers to clean them up but really i don't give a **** its my jam room.

Re: Show me your guitar hangers!

I too use the hercules wall hangers. They've been working great for like 10 years, doesn't mess with nitro finishes, even moved recently to a new place and reused them a few times trying to figure out the setup I wanted. So far they never failed me and they hold the guitars very securely.

My "Vintage" wall, just missing the 70s VM Jazz bass i lent to a friend:

My "Modern" wall, loaded with OFR super Strats:

Pardon the crappy phone pics, I haven't taken the time yet to take proper pictures of my new setup.

Re: Show me your guitar hangers!

By the way, I didn't bother with the studs because they are rarely placed where i want to put the hangers at. I use these type of anchors and they work great, much better than the "standard" ones you usually see included with the hangers. I tested the crap out of these before i dared to hang my Les Paul on it. These are usually rated 50lb per anchor, seen some that do 75lb too, but unless i get a guitar that weighs 100lb these hangers aren't going anywhere lol

Re: Show me your guitar hangers!

I just use some cheap ones I got on Amazon and they're plenty strong enough. Two years now without a single failure.

I have, however, had three-year-old grandson problems with guitars dropping... but I don't consider that to be the hanger's fault.

Re: Show me your guitar hangers!

Fretrest's from GC. Picked up a few when they were $5 around Christmas time. Going to pick up another 10 when they have 'em on sale again.
I didn't use the chinsey screws they came with. Used 3" coarse thread wood screws into studs.

Re: Show me your guitar hangers!

I use a couple of the Hercules triple-screw metals for the guitars I have out at any given moment. I keep all the others cased.

Mine a screwed into my music-room's closet door-frame,,,,,,,,,,super-sturdy like that as it's an old country house with real wood lol.
The door was removed years ago.

Re: Show me your guitar hangers!

I was just wondering if anyone put up a cross beam into the studs, then hung at will. Guess not...

Re: Show me your guitar hangers!

I have seen that
Some other member posted where he had a one by four on the wall
with the hangers mounted to that

He may not have responded here

My brother cut in a one by four behind the drywall on his house
About five foot up on all the bedroom walls
So his wife could hang pictures any where she wanted

Re: Show me your guitar hangers!

Believe it or don't, I thought about doing the "2x6-to-the-studs" thing some years ago. Even mocked it up somewhat:

But I skimped and just went with wall-hangers au natural. String Swing I think is what I use. Can't recall now.

I used the original screws and the plastic inserts since I hung them on mobile-home drywall and the studs weren't all that studly.

Re: Show me your guitar hangers!

I use the Off the Wall guitar hangers. Some end up in studs, some don't. If they don't, I use wall anchors. Never a failure. I don't leave guitars on them all the time (except a bass)...only the guitars I am currently using for a project.
